TaskMonifier

The easy way to monitor tasks

Usage

  1. Start TaskMonifier
  2. Start whatever program, computation or download you wish to monitor
  3. Right-click on the progress bar if you want to change what system to monitor (Processor/Network/Disk)
  4. Notice where the current processor/network/disk usage bar if at
  5. Drag the trigger to a level below this (something like the idle state)
  6. Set the delay in seconds. This is the amount of time that the usage must remain under the trigger value before the action is executed
  7. Choose the action to perform (for email and text message actions, further configuration is required by clicking on the Config button)
  8. (optional) Test the action by clicking on the Test button
  9. Click the large play button to start the monitoring, and click again to stop.

Limitations

Taskmonifier is best for monitoring tasks that consume significant resources: A small trickle download is hard to monitor, as is a small unintensive application. In particular, the disk and network usage is measured as a percentage of the highest previous value — therefore, these measures can take sometime to settle down. Also when monitoring tasks with flucuating usage values, it's wise to set the delay to something high enough that a lull in activity doesn't set-off the trigger before the task is fully complete.
